History of Rosewater
Use of rosewater in daily skincare routines dates back to the ancient Persian empire. By 7th century CE Persians, Greeks, Eastern Europeans and others were using rosewater not only for its famed aromatherapy qualities but also for its medicinal properties. Botanix Rosewater is a pure floral water of Rosa damascena, a species of rose that is cultivated in certain areas of the world for the purpose of rose water production. Traditionally rose blooms are harvested at the first light of dawn, they are then placed in large copper pots, topped with previously obtained rosewater and brought to boil. The distilled product is a highly aromatic rose oil that is used in the perfume industry. Once the distillation process is complete, the floral water is filtered to remove any flower petals.
Uses of Rosewater in Beauty Routines
Rose water is commonly used to create balancing facial toners. Many natural moisturizer advocates add rosewater to glycerin or witch hazel to create plant-based facial cleanser. Rosewater toners may boost skin tone, help fight signs of aging, and reduce dullness. Botanix cosmetic grade rosewater offers a balanced scent of roses, making it ideal to create soaps, scented body butters, hair care products, as well as room and linen sprays. Rose floral water may also be added to a warm bath for a relaxing home spa break.
